The General Gist: Children’s story about how a family of ducks comes to live on the island in Boston Public Garden’s pond.

Story Review: This is an OLD story. The art and the the text are simplistic which is good for a bedtime story. It is also short, another good feature for a bedtime story. Although I’m not much of a fan of the story, I do love how much the location (Boston) is a part of the book.
Most of the other characters are also multidimensional. Even the characters that are one dimensional don’t seem out of place for their role is minimal.

Immersion Activity Ideas:
Take a scenic walk around Boston (see list below for places mentioned)
Go feed the ducks at your local park
Take a ride in a swan boat
Go hangout with the Mrs. Mallard and her ducklings sculpture in the Public Garden

Locations mentioned in the book:
Beacon Hill
State House
Charles River (near where Mount Vernon St. runs perpendicular to the river)
Walk along Mount Vernon St. to Charles St. crossing Beacon St. to enter the Public Garden (the route Mrs. Mallard takes her ducklings)

Oh! and since I haven’t changed my sidebar I want to let you know that the links from the book cover and the title are affiliate links for me that link to the book at Indiebound.org and if you purchase the book through that link, I will get a little money for referring you. It won’t cost you extra or anything though. If this confuses you, feel free to shoot me an email. I have to talk my mom through this type of thing all the time.
