Yesterday Rose and I went to the Empire State Book Festival. I’ve been to a few conventions (Book Expo America, Comic-Con International, WonderCon) but I didn’t know what to expect as a volunteer at this first (hopefully annual) event. It was smaller than I was expecting– Rose and I walked through the exhibitors area [...] Yesterday was quite the whirlwind– meeting friends, eating food, watching a movie, quick trip to pick up the latest issue of The Sword and then the long drive back to Copake. First I met up with Lohalalaban where she works at Emerson College. Loha and I went out to lunch at a lovely Vietnamese [...] I started the day at The Tap with Ivy, Luke, Fang, Walker, Ivy’s long-time friend Emcee and Emcee’s fiancee. (Yesterday I posted Emcee was Ivy’s cousin. Ivy just corrected me.) They had an Irish Car Bomb waiting for me. I’m not a fan having chug things and I’m really not a fan of chugging [...] I grew up 40 minutes north of Boston. I spent most Saturdays from elementary and middle school in Boston. I went to college in Boston. No matter where I call home that day, I always consider Boston home. I love listening to WFNX, walking the streets that once upon a time were cowpaths or [...] Yesterday I went into NYC for the day. It felt so nice to be by myself and not locked in my room, which is really the only way to by truly by myself here. I did a bunch of little things. I visited to Midtown Comics off the recommendation of a friend (picking up [...] Exterior of Book Barn The Book Barn is located in Hillsdale, NY. To get to it you must drive well off the beaten path, past farms and fields. The exterior may have a worn down, foreboding look; inside are cozy rooms lined with second hand books and their loved smell. New books, old [...] |
